Continuous backup

There are times when I wish I had never started Tech-Pro Downloads. It's based on a commercial script that came with a database from the RegNow software distributor and receives updates from it, as well as manual submissions. But removing the dross and the spam from Chinese software developers with their third rate clones of DVD rippers and video converters takes a lot of time and is extremely tedious and boring, and editing the descriptions of the products that remain takes even more time that sometimes seems not worth the effort. But every now and then it brings to my attention a product that is really worth promoting, such as Live File Backup.

Live File Backup is a continuous data protection or continuous backup product. I think I have written before about how enthusiastic I am about continuous backup. When we used Windows in the office I used AJC Active Backup and it was a life-saver. I have used it to recover long deleted files and resurrect old versions of other files that had been disastrously modified on numerous occasions. Under Linux I now use Konserve, which is a far less sophisticated application, but as our operation is now predominantly web based there is not too much on our local hard drives that is of vital importance. However on the web servers I have implemented scripts to perform a primitive form of continuous backup, which have already been used a couple of times to restore edited files to a previous version.

We sell more data recovery software than anything else, but I really wish more people would buy backup products. Data recovery can never be 100% guaranteed, whereas continuous data protection will enable you to get your lost file back no matter what happened with absolutely no hassle. So I earnestly recommend you to try Live File Backup or one of the other products I mentioned. If you do, I'm sure that some time in the future you'll be really glad you did. I know I have been on many occasions.
